KNOWLEDGE NETWORKS PROMOTES DENNIS TO LEAD SPQR BUSINESS UNIT

KN also hires Garrett as Vice President – previously played senior roles at Market Strategies, Bureau of the Census, ACNielsen, Mathematica Policy Research

January 8, 2008; Menlo Park, CA: Knowledge Networks (KN) has announced two key appointments that position its SPQR (Statistical Panels for Quantitative Research) strategic business unit to further build on the exceptional quality and growth it has established. Dr. J. Michael Dennis, who has been guiding Government/Academic research at KN, has been promoted to lead SPQR, which consists of the Government/Academic team, as well as all aspects of KnowledgePanel® and the creation of custom panels for clients. In addition, Joe Garrett has joined the Government/Academic group as Vice President; he brings to KN extensive client-relationship experience at top organizations serving the Federal Government sector.

During his eight-year tenure at Knowledge Networks, Dr. Dennis has developed strong relationships with key university and foundation clients, including the University of Pennsylvania and Stanford University. His areas of expertise – addressed in numerous published studies and conference presentations – include non-response bias, panel conditioning, and data collection mode effects.

"Mike has demonstrated leadership and vision, resulting in explosive revenue growth in SPQR," said Simon Kooyman, Chief Executive Officer of Knowledge Networks. "He understands all aspects of the business unit – from government and academic research, to panel creation and management, to consumer attitudes towards on-line research. And, at a time when telephone research is becoming both less reliable and more expensive, Mike will be diligent in leveraging the unique representative value of KnowledgePanel®."

Garrett comes to KN from Market Strategies International, where he founded and led the Government, Foundation, and Academic Research Division. From 1997 to 2004, he was Vice President and Deputy Director of Surveys and Information Services at Mathematica Policy Research, a leading contract research firm. For seven years prior to that, Garrett worked at ACNielsen as Vice President and Chief Statistical Officer. He began his career at the Census Bureau in 1978, where he rose to the level of Assistant Division Chief, Research and Methodology.

Since 1988, Garrett has been an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Statistics at George Washington University; he also has served as an adjunct faculty member at the Joint Program in Survey Methodology at the University of Maryland.

"Joe has an ideal mix of survey research expertise, business development skills, and experience in Federal government contract research that will help KN work more effectively with Federal agencies and policy organizations," said Dr. Dennis. "He has established credibility with key Federal agencies and associations and has a proven ability to build solid accounts and client service teams."
